WHY PLAYING SPORTS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE YOUTH
There are all kinds of sporting activities in the world. Indoor sports include chess, badminton, basketball, boxing, bowling, table tennis, etc. Outdoor sports on the other hand include rock climbing, baseball, soccer/football, etc. Both kinds have their advantages and specific traits.
One does not have
to be a professional to play a sport. They do not have the monopoly over
playing sports. One should always participate in whatever sports they can and
want to for the holistic growth of an individual. Sports should be encouraged
amongst everyone in the country and especially in children to create a strong
foundation for them.
A few very
specific benefits are:
1. IMPROVEMENT IN PHYSICAL HEALTH
This is a very
obvious benefit. Playing most forms of sports involves a lot of physical
activity and usage of the strength of one’s body. Thus, one not only increases
one’s stamina but also builds the core strength of the body. Players of very
physically active sports often develop extra veins circulating the heart which
provide extra benefits to the players in their old ages in dealing with heart
issues and blockages in it. Sports players are also able to sleep better and
faster.
2. IMPROVEMENT IN MENTAL
HEALTH
Players of all
forms of sports require a lot of focus and attention to detail. Players also
need to be farsighted in their tactics and moves. This when made a habit makes
it easier for the players to deal with their mental health issues. The reason
being that players have trained their brain to target a problem or a goal and
find solutions to them by finding rational methods to achieve them. We tend to
become calmer and in control of our emotions because not only do we get an
outlet for pent up frustrations but we also learn to navigate through debilitating
pressures.
3. INCENTIVES IN JOBS
There is an
entire plethora of jobs available to sports persons. They can become teachers,
professional coaches & instructors, commentators, critics and even research
analysts. If they have sufficient knowledge of their sport it's not difficult
to land a job in this field. Some jobs even have special degrees and diplomas
to get an education in them. Infact, the Government of India has special
scholarships and positions to offer the sports persons who perform very well at
the national level. Some very imminent sports persons like Mr. Kapil Dev and
Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni even got honoured with ranks in the armed forces.
4.
RESPECT IN THE SOCIETY
The society of
India has a special place in their heart for people who do well in their lives
and are successful in their careers. Any sports person who is able to get good
results in their competitions is seen as successful and accomplished. Not just
that, sports persons have a very strong personality and confidence which they
develop with time and that leaves a very deep and positive impression on the
people. Especially famous sports persons like Mary Kom become heroes to the
society because of their performances at the international levels. They make
the country proud and win a very high respect
in the society.
5. BETTER MATRIMONIAL ASPECTS
Sports persons
develop a very strong sense of teamwork within themselves because of which they
are believed to be great partners. Also, when someone makes a name for
themselves in the hall of fame of the sport, everyone believes that he/she will
always be economically sound which is why their matrimonial demands are pretty
high.
6. BUILD
UP OF SPIRIT AND CHARACTER
Sports persons develop a strong
resilience and a will to try to the last moment. They not only have a spirit to
relentlessly put efforts into a goal but also understand how to deal with loss.
Sports persons develop grace in their character to not get overwhelmed when
they are lucky enough to experience a chain of victories and also not to give
up when they do not win. They learn to understand the difference between
competitors and rivals. This is called sportsman spirit. Development of
sportsman spirit is essential for the youth to deal with their future
struggles.
7. TEAM
SPIRIT
Sports inculcate a spirit of team
spirit in the youth which is very important for them to learn how to work in a
corporate culture. We cannot avoid ever working in teams no matter what field
you are in. It is only beneficial for the youth to learn how to do that because
it will only work in the development and progress of the country.
8. BETTER
RESULTS TO THERAPY
Regular exercise of any type is very
important for anyone that faces cardiological issues. Many people who have
played sports in their youth have shown better results to therapy and medicines
when they face any health issues related to their heart and blood pressure.
Many people face these issues in old ages and it has been widely proven that
people who have done sports in their youth are able to deal with them better.
9. DEVELOP
BETTER REFLEXES
People who play sports develop better
reflexes because of their everyday or regular training given to them. It will
only help the people in future situations when reflexes are needed in dangerous
situations. It also develops a better presence of mind in general in studies
and practical experiences.
10.SAVE
FROM THESE NEGATIVE HABITS
Something very important that is a
direct consequence of playing sports is that people stay away from alcohol,
smoking and any other drugs in general. These drugs negatively affect the
performance while playing so this vulnerable section of the society is saved
from these negative habits.
11.LEADERSHIP
SKILLS
Playing sports also develops leadership
skills in the youth. They are able to develop very efficient and fast decision
making making skills because there are no other options available to them when
they are in a game.
In conclusion,
there are many aspects because of which sports should be a part of everyone's
life. Be it physical health, mental health or development of spirit. Sports
persons have a very strong will to take risks and this helps in developing a
strong, innovative and confident entrepreneur.
